I'm sorry to hear about your upcoming surgery. It isn't fun, but they have the procedures down very well.
My mother bought two knees and two shoulders. She was always careful about her weight, so we had a good time teasing her about being the bionic woman and that she weighed more after her joint replacements than before! (Titanium weighs more than bone) Seriously, based on her experience my advice is take extra pain medication an hour before your physical therapy sessions.

A friend of mine had her hip replaced about a year ago and the recovery time was very fast.
This should not slow you down for too long and you will be feeling much better!

Take the opportunity to relax, sit and listen--but keep your leg with the replaced hip out straight.
