Hello LexiconLogan,

Transparent Cables are very, very good. They are at least one of the best solutions for Wilson Audio speakers.
Please wait for my introducion. I will write more about Transparent Cable und Wilson Audio.
Transparent, NBS and maybe Shunyata are the best audio cable in the world!

Best regards
Friedrich

@ Masterlu
Thank you for Welcome!

@LexiconLogan
My introducion in a separate thread is only possible after 10 posts, but I think this will last only a short time due to my interest in Wilson Audio, extrem! high end, cables, Mark Levinson, Krell and so one.

Best regards!
Friedrich

Having owned almost every series of WP's, Maxx's and Sasha's, I have tried and used:

Vahalla, MIT S1.3, Transparent (can't recall which version but it was the 2nd from top in the range) and many others I have forgotten.
For the longest time I used Vahalla. Then, a friend suggested I try Kubala-Sosna Elation
I did and I must sat it is very very good. The background is absolutely black. Dynamic, rock solid bass and silky smooth highs. Sounds great in a few hours. None of the "give it 500 hours to settle" stuff.
For me, on the WP8's and now Sasha's this is one that should be considered...

Nordost Vahalla could sound harsh or hard. Of course it depends on your complete system which (speaker) cables are the best. And then there is your individual preference how/in which direction the sound should be changed.

I have some experiences depending on the electronic but only some. A good dealer should borrow you several cables for a weekend to try them at your system. In Germany good dealers do that. Depending on your reputation you must pay a deposit.

Best regards!

How's the MIT with the Wilsons ? How does the sound differ from a similarly price transparent cable ?

But is Transparent Ultra XL a wise choice or are there cheaper versions of Transparent even better? Or perhaps one step more expensive is 10 x better?

Vahalla is never hard or harsh sounding

Because it's thin and silver some believe that but if you have direct experience with it it is never hard or harsh

Wilson is wired with transparent internally. Dave Wilson prefers Transparent for demos. I've owned 3 pairs of Wilson speakers and have tried a few different upper end cables like purist audio, cardas, audioquest. I had $28k worth of Transparent for a home demo at that time.

Transparent was a clear winner with my Wilson/Lamm system. You'll see lots of people using Transparent with Wilson. Do you need to spend crazy money on upper end Transparent? If you can afford it and want the very best, sure, there is a difference. I did not and was very happy with the lower end Transparent for some time. One would be surprised how good even their lower end sounds.

Some are skeptics of the network box. They say, "why should I pay good money for resolving gear only to have a filter network box. The network box takes all the grunge and grit out of the system and is designed to filter out stuff above the hearing range. The end result is a much smoother yet still very resolving cable that has a more natural and organic voicing. I even tried transparent with my Shindo gear between a tube CDP and Shindo preamp. Night and day difference between the older Tara labs IC I was using.

Here is the original thread where I compared a few cables. http://audioaficionado.org/cables-ga...udioquest.html
