I would also suggest Transparent. It takes a while to get over the sticker shock with Transparent but you really need to think of it as a component and not just cables. The other thing I really like about Transparent is it is relatively easy to hear improvements as you move up in their line. I auditioned Super and Ultra and ended up with Ultra. I would love to move into Reference but have other improvements to make first. In addition, with Transparent they give you significant trade back value toward upgrades. Respectable company with great customer service. Just like Wilson Audio their ultimate OPUS series cables trickle down technology into their other levels which is a benefit to the consumer. Good luck with your search.

My room is not bright, lively, but no echo.

Get your gear out of the soundstage...

I really don't understand why people put all there stuff between the speakers where there is the max possibility for vibration and interactive resonances.
Think metallic sounding....

There is absolutely nothing wrong with where his components are situated in relation to his loudspeakers.

It may help with gross room abnormalities in general but there is a price to pay.
Serge,
By edge would you say grain? This is a really interesting.

I agree. His speakers are so far in to the room, that what's going on at the back wall in the middle hardly matters. Great layout. I on the hand don't like when equipment is sitting on the side, besides the need for long interconnects, it throws the balance of the room for me.

There is a lot of base resonance back there, will it work yes, is it the best place no. My equipment is also between my speakers if I could I'd move it to the side wall a couch length up the wall. My room is so out of balance with it's shape etc who'd notice, other than an improved soundstage!!

g997,

I agree with Kevinkwann, avsBuddy and 2BTubey.

Like avsBuddy, other than the equipment on the side, I personally think that soundslikemusic has a great layout. My layout is 1000 times worse, and I even have a 60" flat panel TV sitting smack in the center due to space constraints where I live!!

Then again, I understand and respect that everyone has differing opinions/approaches, but maybe it's just me, but the way I read your post, it came across to me as having a tinge of the "higher-than-thou" tone. I am certainly not saying that you shouldn't have written what you wrote (as you are certainly entitled to your own opinion), but it was simply the manner in which you wrote it that I found a bit wanting.

We all are congregating on this forum to share and learn from one another, and at the same time, to have a fun time interacting with each other. Let's keep it that way.

Philip

What about Transparent Ultra XL between my Sasha's and MX-R's?
