I`ve actually cut my options down to

Audia Flight
Audio Research
Aesthetix

... and added Esoteric - thanx to j3brows suggestion.

Based on your praise of the C52 and how much you like it, why not just stick with it for now?

... should the above and/or other options not bring a significant gain in quality I probably will stick with it. I`m still finding out... ;-)

Sounds like fun! I have the C47 so I'll be interested in your findings

As said, the Whest Three Sig. did not bring any significant improvement when compared to the C52s integrated section - maybe some of the above will though...

When going through the data-sheets I found the gain level of the Audio Research to be very low - as I use a rather quiet EMT MC System the AR will probably also drop out of the List, leaving me with Aesthetix, Audia Flight, Esoteric and the bigger Whest (maybe the Titan) models for now...

Directly from the McIntosh C52 product page specifications:

PHONO VOLTAGE GAIN
Moving Magnet: 40dB
Moving Coil: 60dB

Ah - thanx. My Whest went to 72db and I think I had it set at 66db. 60 is actually okay but also necessary for quiet MCs... so that rules out a few further stages for me...

That's good to know. I'm going to be comparing a recently acquired C500T against the Audia Flight. From your remarks I'm guessing I'll still be keeping the Audia Flight.
