Default Singapore visit ...

I would appreciate any input on places to see, places to eat/drink, stereo shops, as well as any other information anyone has to offer for a first-time visitor.

We (myself and a business colleague) will be staying there for the first ~two weeks in October, including two weekends that will likely be the time when we can visit sites and places.

Thanks in advance, Dean

Singapore is awesome. I recommend the zoo along with night safari, the orchid garden and orchard road shopping.

Lots of good food. For fancy, I really like Les Amis (good wine selection). I believe they also have a wine bar next door.

Also, under the large shopping centers on Orchard are food courts with lots of good stuff to try. If I recall, Ngee Ann City had interesting things below.

Used to call in at Singapore regularly when I was in the Merchant Navy. The Tiger Balm Gardens and the Jurong Bird Park are worth a visit. Seem to remember a few hifi shops in Singapore too. Relaxing in air-conditioned comfort while sipping a Tiger beer listening to music can't be beaten
Some sate and rice wrapped in banana leaf from a street vendor (sate club) doesn't go amiss either.

Watch pricing on alcohol... It can be a bit expensive for beer at the bars.

If you want a hot and messy feast, go to East Coast Seafood towards Changi airport for some Sri Lankan pepper crabs and Tiger beer. Sandals, Shorts and tee shirts are the order of the day.

(Don't drink the bowl of tea they give you!). You will figure it out.

For something more swanky, you go to Raffles hotel. I forget the actual name of the lounge (Billiard room?) but you can enjoy a scotch and cigar in luxury. You can also go for an original Singapore sling in the long bar along with all the other tourists.

Don't ask about the prices, just enjoy.

Also, many bars and joints in Boat Quay (pronounced 'key').

Last but not least, go to the top of the casino downtown in the marina (not on Sentosa) for a drink with a great view!

Awesome. I love to try new food, so this is an area I am stoked about.

I appreciate the support.

Singapore is one of my favorite stop-overs in Asia. I would spent many a weekend there when moving around between Vietnam, China, Japan and Korea. Western food is relatively expensive. Don't forget to drop by the Adelphi Building for one of the best one stop audio experiences you will find anywhere. Several floors of different audio shops with many of the top brand names. Sentosa is fun. Orchard Road is alive early way past mid-night.
