More of a Duero than a Rioja I hope. Congrats!

If you are on the younger side (pre-audiophile? haha) and looking for a modern, trendy, contemporary night out then I suggest you try this one:

https://www.artrabbit.com/events/rhy...42a79d021.webp

The Rhypark restaurant / events centre in Basel, Switzerland. Not only does it house arguably the best view of the whole town (right by the Rhein, lovely indeed) when you are dining outside. It also has a small playing venue (for 800 or so) holding events from bands, groups and all kinds of artists foreign and domestic. I believe Jimmy Carr's stand up is on today.

Excellent place, the new German chef definitely knows his stuff if you are into healthy stuff and the owners, Oliver Keller and Dado Rapic are top shelf!

Just took my wife to the Bavarian Chef in Madison, VA for her birthday. Good German food! The desserts are especially delicious. My wife grew up in Germany over five years and spent another year in Austria during college. So she knows authentic German cuisine. She liked the food too and thought it was pretty authentic. Highly recommended.

Just in Nashville for a conference and ate at a place called "The Southern"- great food and service (the tenderloin on a biscuit appetizer is outstanding), a very good list of wines by the glass, and a list of whiskeys and bourbons 3 pages long. A very lively/noisy atmosphere makes it a fun place. Highly recommended if your in the lower Broadway area and want to escape the bar scene on Broadway.

Stayed at the Inn at Little Washington for a few nights a couple of years ago. Whether the hotel or the restaurant, nothing is left to chance. Everything is carefully thought out from the room decore to the arrangement of food on the plate. Beautiful little town. Some great views of the surrounding countryside on the Skyline drive nearby.

What is "good German food"?

I've generally been disappointed by German food so would like to know what I'm missing.

LOL, German cuisine doesn't rank high among international cuisine with me either. That said, the schnitzel, spaetzle, potato salad, and desserts we had were excellent.

We really enjoy the Parc Bistro on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. Great atmosphere and food and a place where they are happy if you linger. This is just the weather for the Parc.
