I will.

It will be an intense business trip but I plan to suck up as much of their culture and region as possible!

This site continues to provide value and enriches my life and knowledge way behind its obvious value. We all have one person to thank for this!!!

Cheers to Ivan and those behind the scene!!!!

Ong Radio have a few showrooms - they are the McIntosh distributors.

High End Research located in a hotel arcade carries Wilson Audio, PassLabs, Audio Research.

Every other brand can usually be found in Adelphi - a one stop shopping centre with 4 floors of hifi and dedicated HT places.

Electronics are spec-ed for 230V so I'd pass if you live in a 110/120V place.

Food -
Satay Club in Lao Pasat night market is great for the atmosphere.

If you have local colleagues and don't mind the heat, try some of the local fare:
Char Kway Teow at Telok Blangah Crescent
Chilli and Black Pepper Crabs (lots of places - some air conditioned)

These are a bit out of the way so it helps to have a local guy bring you round.

I think steaks and western food are good but for the price, IMHO not exceptional.

There was a large food court in the center of China town which had great cheap noodles. Also the shops all around that area have a tasty red bbq pork I'd recommend trying as a snack.

If your into dried scallops and abalone, you can find them for a reasonable price (relatively).

Considering taking a few days of personal time on the Island that would require a stay in a different hotel. I would appreciate any input on where to stay - location, hotel/resort, etc.

I've stayed in various major hotels on Orchard and all have been good.

The Shangri-la, while not on Orchard, was also very nice.

A warm welcome to Sunny Singapore, a place where almost everything is just a short distance away. Public transport is convenient and quite efficient. If you are a "foodie", practically you can find all sort of food from many countries. If you stay in the city area, Clarke Quay & Boat Quay where you can dine and drink is probably just a walking distance away.

Sentosa is a another good place to spend your weekend.....

To add on to Doggiehowser's recommendation on hi-fi equipment, you can visit Roxy Music, Simply Music & New Disc Village, all located on 3rd floor of Adelphi if you are looking for vinyl and cds, both new and used. They are one of the few survivors from the impact of digital streaming trend.

Enjoy your stay here in Singapore!
