I might agree that German food as a cuisine may not be at the top but German food cooked well serves me just fine. Schnitzel, spaetzle, GERMAN potato saled (served warm), red cabbage, a few Pils followed by a Strudel and after dinner drinks and what I have always found, was good company make for very enjoyable evenings.

For me, the entirety of an evening (well made food, the right beverages and of course, good company) make up for medium cuisine!

Agreed. And to that end Germans make up for it with very fine BEER.
