Default The Holy grail, Vodoo or what? Linn Exakt according to it's CEO

https://linn.co.uk/blog/what-makes-music-magic

I am a Linn customer since 1994 and have owned some of their cd players, streamer, amps and speakers and still does (except from my new B&W 803 D3:s).

I have been taught (and mostly loved) the theory of "source first" and "tune dem" methods during the years and also experienced the legendary Komri speakers with eight Klimax solos during a spectacular demo evening in 2002

I love music, I love the feeling it can bring with a really good hifisystem but I am not the techical guy at all. So - what's your opinion about this new (?) technology that Linn talks about? Is it a dealbreaker? A new invention like the wheel? The fire? Did they find something totally new with the Exakt-technology or what do you think?

Thanks,

Johannes

Well, I read it. I'll have to hear it before I could say. Dubious as to introducing a processor into the chain.

I read the paper too, and in their understated manner, their paper was as hyperbolic as the marketing schemes they complained about. Marketing is marketing and manufacturers will do or say whatever they feel is needed to bring in the customers.

I don't know know what to make of this marketing fluff, but I was very, very impressed when my dealer used a linn dac to set up my Alexias. That thing outperformed my k01x!

Prior to that, I couldn't care less about linn.

It's basically what my speakers do. Active crossover with phase alignment of the drivers. All done in digital domain. Deqx does this in an outboard unit. Dynaudio also has actives that have this tech. Bang olufsen with their awesome beolab 90 and now 50 speakers.

IMO the future of digital hifi. I don't think analog people would be thrilled with the ad to da conversions.

Yes, it's essentially digital crossovers and amplification with the speakers. The system provides a digital signal to the speakers via Ethernet cable and the onboard processer decodes and sends to the individual drivers. It's a very slick system and works very well, but it's not the holy grail. I love my Linn streamer/DAC, but I haven't been that impressed with their speakers compared to say Sonus Faber or Wilson when driven by a competent amp.
