I've been lucky so far. Bought several items and sold several items on CL with good results. I probably should quit right now on a high note!

I love Craigslist for buying, but I only use the anonymous CL email, I require a phone number and address (of the seller) so I can sleuth and make sure they seem legit first.

As for selling, never at my house. Only at a 3rd party, public location (like a police station parking lot or lobby).

At a previous house I had a guy get pretty crazy and it was unsettling to know he knew my address.

It's not always the first encounter that is a concern, it's if they (knowing your equipment, home, etc.) decide they want to come back.

Not worth it IMHO---
