Default Netflix - The Crown

We just finished watching the 10 episodes of Season 1 of "The Crown" on Netflix. This first season covers the early years of Queen Elizabeth II reign. There are flashbacks to her childhood, her uncles abdication, her father becoming King and eventually her fathers death. I have read that this is the most expensive Netflix series to date with a budget of over $130 million. The cinematography is top notch and as is most of the acting. John Lithgow as Winston Churchill will surely get some award consideration.

The story is based off of and an extension of the play "The Audience" originally starring Helen Mirren. This covered the weekly meeting between the Queen and her Prime Ministers over the years.

Been watching with my wife. Surprisingly entertaining (unlike my wife, I could care less about the royal family)

Hector, like you I don't follow the Royal Family but we look for programming that might interest both of us.

There is some great dialog especially between Churchill and the man doing his portrait.

I have no interest in the royal family but you had me at John Lithgow. He was brilliant in Dexter.

Well done and its history. I like history when its reasonably accurate (not like Throne of Games, or whatever). Especially enjoy seeing the interior of the old buildings that I'll never see 1st hand.

Agreed, we are on Episode 9 and have enjoyed it. I like factual - fiction like this.

It deservedly won a couple of Golden Globes last evening. One for Best Actress and the other for Best Drama Series.
