I took a 500 triple out for a good spin back in the day. Pretty fast for it's day. The surge you got after backing off the throttle kept things interesting while slowing for a corner

Other than the hinge in the middle of the frame they were 'fun' motorcycles. The 400 was the best of the bunch in stock form. The engines in the larger models overwhelmed their frames/ suspensions.

when I was young a friend was almost killed on this bike. Someone pulled out in front of him while traveling 55mph.

Yes I do remember seeing them around. I was into motorcycles since I was 10 or 11... I believe it was 1985? When I walked into a store and laid my eyes on the brand new then Suzuki GSXR. I knew right there and then that futuristic rocket ship will change the whole course of motorcycles. Major Lust.
