I ordered especially Octave MRE 120 mono blocks (demo model) instead of their follow-up MRE 130's because of the piano black finish of the first! (which combined, of course, also better with my old black preamplifier of the same brand) I like that finish so much better than just regular black. Really, I don't understand the reason of different audio brands to choose for regular black....The costs? Than it's really a case of 'penny wise and pound foolish'...

I owned the 805Di's in piano black; loved them. I thought I'd never buy that finish again with the concern of long term care and kid-gloving them. Bought a pair of Sonus Faber Liuto's in piano black; and again the 805D's in piano black. There's just something about the finish that gives a very clean and luxurious quality to the speaker. Recommended.

My current speakers are black and I like that. I've never had the piano black, 'though, and I was wondering how well the piano black was working out. It sure seems like there are no worries and much to like. For me, the piano black finish looks outstanding.

All of my 800 series are piano black. I have had no problems with them. They look sweet with the grills off! If you move or handle them, make sure you remove any watch or ring.

I have 803ds in piano black; dust and fingerprints show up much more. I'm too lazy to put gloves on when moving or adjusting them.
