Devore Gibbon Super 8 are home...,
I bought those used and they arrived this morning.
They are supposed to work only in little to average rooms but I plugged them in the living room which is rather large and with a cathedral ceiling and....boy those little devils do sing ! I tried them with an old Nad integrated and with the Shindo Apetite integrated. Very transparent and refined sound. Reminds me a bit of the little Verity Audio, bmaybe more musical and less " High Def ". I tend to prefer the warmer mids of the little Nad over the Apetite on some recordings, although the Apetite is much more clean and defined and transparent. Anyway the Apetite has been reserved and will leave my home shortly. I finally never really felt in love with this one as I did with my big Shindo amps. I guess that I just did not find the perfect partner to it. Don't misunderstand me, the Apetite / Super 8 combo sounds really good and "alive" but a bit too sharp for what I'm waiting for in a living room system. I 'm looking there for an " easy " sound. The Apetite is almost too "high end" there. But I'm really surprised by the little Devores. Extremely musical, very well built, simple speakers. Will probably give me the will to explore higher end ones like the O96.... The Apetite will be replaced soon by a McIntosh MA5100 integrated. Easy listening....
