This is why in my initial post I mentioned that solar panel will need to get even cheaper than they are today for the EV to really take off. The two are linked in my mind.

I'd love to be in a world where electricity will be decentralized like the internet revolution. This can come through cheap solar panel that will be install virtually everywhere linked with improvement in battery storage so that you can store electricity. The biggest con of electricity is that you can't store it efficiently.

Regarding the prediction about 2050, most of the cars are hybrid and to me a hybrid is not an EV car. It's just a way for people to feel good about themselves but actually get a crap mpg because they still floor it.

Electric cars are coming.................even Ferrari just announced plans to build its electric supercar. Battery costs will come down and hold greater capacity. Electric range will become common for 200+ miles on a charge and most people don't drive 200 miles in a day. Fast chargers are popping up at malls, major hotels, near airports, and major state highways. Fast charging stations can charge my car to 80% in amount 20 minutes, but most people will only charge their car when they get home.

Another thing cool with my electric car is not needing to step on the brake to stop.
Sometimes I go a full day without ever stepping on the brake - upon releasing the accelerator pedal the car immediately starts to slow down and this action actually regenerates the electric battery. Very cool!

I hope your road doesn't have a single red light or I'd be worried for the people crossing your path
