Thank you for the answer, George.
Most or all of the confirmations about the Summit X noise are from Europe. I was sure that every Summit maybe the the Montis too, produce this noise. In my home it is very very quiet and i use the Summit not to far from my hearing position, almost near field. Thats why i recognized the noise, which is really quiet indeed. To my surprise a lot of the users could not hear that, and most of them on a different power system than the German one. So the possibility of an European, power system related error, was there. But you are absolutely right, the Summit X is a wonderful sounding Loudspeaker and for my personal taste one of the best i ever heard. Cheers Karl |

I have a set of Martin Logan original CLS that are in need of new panels. Has anyone heard of either ML reducing the price of replacement panels or third party vendors that are able to rebuild the panels?

That's a good one! Welcome to AA! This is a great place to give and get advice and to have other people help you spend your money! Seriously, there might be third party service vendors that might rebuilt the panels. Have you googled that? I know for my speakers there are third party service technicians who will rebuilt panels and membrane elements. You might try Miller Sound in Philadelphia PA (215) 412-7700 and Audio Classics in Binghamton NY (800) 321-2834 Last edited by GaryProtein; 06-01-2016 at 02:44 PM. |

Sky.....You might want to inquire of ML as you might find that any CLS replacment panels may be built utilizing their latest panel topology, ergo, they 'aught' to perform/sound better than the original CLS?

If only ML would bring them back at a reasonable price, I'd buy a pair on the spot. |

My brother gave me his ML Aerius from the 90's when he bought his new Wilson Sophia. The Aerius had many, many hours on them, but, I still loved how they sound. On a whim, I called ML and asked for replacement panels for the Aerius, they had one pair in stock. I had nothing invested yet, so, I figure, I will buy them and see what happens... Well, the new panels made a huge difference from the original 25 year old panels. My brother heard the Aerius with the new panels and said, he now remembered why he loved those Aerius so much. It really was a huge difference... And the original panels were meticulously vacuumed and in a non-smoking house... They just get old and are not as responsive I guess... Replacement panels seem really worth it to me..

I spoke with ML service 2 days ago. CLS IIz panels are $1,427.73 each. They have newer generation 2 sided tape, mylar and coating. They still have the same spars.
