Brother,

I am going through your book. It is generally excellent. I believe I will be able to help you with a few improvements.

As I have stated, regarding your understanding of evolution, it is weak.

The current argument for evolution has become genomic. Evolution states we got here by mutation. Evolution is not a change in allele frequency or that "things happen". It would be good if it were that simple. Mutation is defined as any random change in your genome.

You need to read "The Language of God" by Francis S. Collins. Dr. Collins was head of the Human Genome Project. You will not be able to understand much less refute his observations regarding the organization of the human genome. The genome has an organization and the interpretation of it in evolutionary terms is extremely favorable. The organization of the human genome is easily explained in terms of mutation, i.e. evolution.

Evolution has become the paradigm upon which all modern science is based, including physics. It is no longer a theory. It has become an established scientific fact and this "fact" has been "confirmed" by the organizations of the genomes of all living things.

I do not claim to understand totally the equations of physics. However, by your own admission you have almost no understanding of biology. You are relying on weak secondhand sources and Szilard's theorem of the thermodynamic nature of information to refute a very powerful paradigm.

I understand how to refute Dr. Collins. You do not. I also understand that Szilard's theory (it is just a theory) does not fit the facts regarding Life. When a theory does not jive with the observable facts, it is significantly weakened or useless.

Your understanding and dismissal of evolution is by far the weakest part of your book. Nothing that I have written to you in my previous recent emails is incorrect. I stand by everything I have said. Intellectually, evolution is no threat to me. It threatens me because it is costing many lives. One of those lives could be mine. The genome is severely wounded. It did not evolve. It has been damaged. Human disease is the symptom of this malfunction. Aging is the evidence of this malfunction. Medical science, therefore, is all about treating the symptoms, not about treating the diseases themselves, which are mutation and aging. Cancer is the prototype "symptom" of a malfunctioning genome. If a brain tumor is causing you vertigo (tumor of the 8th nerve known as acoustic neuroma), you can treat it with Antivert which is treating the symptom, or you can remove the tumor, which is treating the disease.

Until mutation and aging are recognized as the result of malfunction, i.e. as diseases, and not the result of random chance, i.e. evolution, medical science will never make significant advances. Example of this is the actor that starred in the movie "Black Panther", Chadwick Boseman who tragically died at age 43 of colon cancer. He obviously was in splendid physical condition, but a fatal mutation destroyed his otherwise healthy body in 43 years. No significant cure or effective treatment for this terrible "disease" has been made in the last 45 years. I have recently had several good friends die from this very common often fatal disease after lengthy battles with it.

Modern medical science is all about treating "symptoms" like cancer because the incorrect paradigm of evolution disallows that there could be anything wrong with the genome. That's my complaint. Evolution is costing millions of lives.

Brother

Charles, Whats wrong with you. Don't go trying to stop the natural mutation of genomes that ultimately ends lives. The last darn thing this planet needs is people living forever. Just living longer and higher infant survival is causing catastrophic damage to the planet. There are way to many people. Way to many. The number needs to go down and stay down.

Holly crap. Imagine the social impact of the 1% living forever with an iron fist over all of humanities lives. Engineering some to live for 35 years then kick out when their optimal labor value is depleted. And the rich live on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on.

And who is Brother. His work needs to be de funded.

I'm very glad to have these very intelligent responses. I appreciate you all very much. I hope my opinions have at least made you think and I very much appreciate Ivan for allowing me to express them. AA is a tremendous website where intelligent people can express controversial opinions. I stand by them. I would very much like to see cancer cured by the elimination of mutation, which I consider along with aging conclusive evidence of a damaged malfunctioning genome. Thank you again.

Best

Charles

p.s. I really enjoy the high end and listening to music. I care about all of you. I have spent my entire life attempting to help people in the practice of medicine. I have been interested in science all my life. I have a serious side, a questioning side to my personality. My wife has a severe genetic disease and so does her brother and a nephew. Although it is too late for my wife, her nephew would jump at the chance at to insert a better gene into his genome. He has already had two major operations including a splenectomy and is less than 35. He is not able to have children. My son is adopted.

This made my brain hurt at first, then became fun. I love evolution. It’s....perfect: keep trying ‘till something works.

And I appreciate you very much. Currently I'm in my mancave listening to Bob Dylan. Just finished the setup for my wife's dialysis tomorrow. She has lived for three years which is three years longer than she should have. Just finished celebrating her 70th birthday. I am hoping for ten more years. She was/is a brilliant Ophthalmologist, highly respected by all at Vanderbilit but the disease (mutation) finally broke her. She depends on me for everything. It is the joy of my life to be there for her. She has the best doctor in the world (me) as her private physician.

Best

Charles
