Default Lay off the Jazz guys, its..Eurovision Song Contest time!

Let Rad be your expert guide, as we lower our taste buds for another dive. The show was cancelled but there was a nice variety of songs in both semi finals, so before we get to the cream, let's look at some other potential worthies.

In the fun class we have Russia, a comedy troupe who have over a 100 million you tube views on their vids, Azerbaijan, Greece give us a charming and modest Supergirl well sung, and Latvia.

Euro gospel is to the fore, with Malta, then Sweden and the Netherlands.

Booze songs? We have two. Both softly sung by some attractive young ladies; Romania is still drinking, and is slightly better than Bulgaria, who is on the mend. Both fine tunes.

Power ballads with Georgia and Croatia, one of them has some nice counterpoint towards the end. I didn't like Norway, you might. The best pure dance tune came from Germany. The Spanish entry was so so, about the virus in the main, The UK started as an anthem song but lost it's way, and the French was well sung but dull.

So to the best. My winner was Italy, a really good power ballad, followed by Lithuania, a great and mature dance number that's highly catchy, and Switzerland. The best way to watch on the 'tube is by either the two semi finals and fast forwarding if you hit a bum track, or choose a Top 41 or top 20 vid and choose from there. Some songs have copyright issues but you can see them all in the semi's; just type in Eurovision song contest 2020 semi final 1 or 2. Happy hunting!

The video from Roop of Lithuania is pretty funny, and I like the song from Leslie Roy of Ireland.

And I’d say Malta gets the prize for the cheesiest opening.

There's always plenty of cheese. But more variety this year than last, with some countries stepping up their game. Keep exploring.

Not a bad song with a fine symphonic ending. It beat the UK.
