The image quality from the Fuji GFX is truly incredible; I've personally never seen anything like it. It's kind of ruined me for everything else, to be honest.

You should see the images on a 27" 5K Retina iMac. I'm going to print some up and have White Wall print some as well.

I can imagine with specs like these... 43.8mm x 32.9mm, 51.4 MP CMOS sensor, boasting Approx. 1.7x the area of full frame sensors + x processor Pro

Specs are part of it, but certainly not the entirety of what makes the "medium format look". Significant is the intrinsically superior way that medium format (larger) lenses render their images on to a sensor, film, etc. that are very much a key piece of this. More on this later; but Ming Thein wrote a series of articles that describe why MF is superior with respect image quaity in so many different ways that create that magical "medium format look"

Funny that the only MF I ever tried was also a Fuji but that was back in the days of film. Loved the results back then.

Fuji has a long and sterling history in medium format. They have made a number of MF film cameras and lenses for a long time. Their famous "Texas Leica" being one of them. They also made the X-Pan for Hasselblad and the digital Hasselblad H1's lenses. One of the things that Hasselblad stressed when the X1D debuted last year was that the lenses were NOT made by Fuji (instead they are made by Japanese company Nitto, IIRC). They are also the 800 lb gorilla in cine and broadcast lenses, and just won another Emmy this year for their technical contributions to broadcasting.
