Default Yamaha NS690 Monitor

I picked up a pair of these this morning that were supposed to be mint, but were a bit nicked and scratched. However the drivers where all good and the speakers were solid aurally. These are some unforgiving speakers that are very source dependent. They are monitors in every sense of the word, accurate is the description. They will take some time to settle in as they sat unused for some time. What a swing from the Magnapan MGIIIa's in my main system. Wow, these are so different!!
Interestingly the Cambridge Audio 640P was unbearable with these speakers, and the CR2040 Phono section was much more pleasing. Too much of a good thing?
Regards,
Jim

Nah, this isn't too much of a good thing. Playing with various types of drivers (or any other audio unit, for that matter) is part of the fun of the audio adventure. Sounds like you should spend some more time with your 'phono section'.

Jim.......The look very good. I like the stands, too. Did they come with the speakers?

Those are actually Polk Audio Monitor 10 stands. I'm selling the Monitor 10's tomorrow but I think the stands will stay as the NS690's fit perfectly.

Jim
