Sonus faber, Audio Research, Wadia Digital and now Sumiko
The Italian Fine Sounds group has added to its roster of high end brands by acquiring major American distributor and cartridge maker Sumiko. The move makes a lot of financial sense for the group because Sumiko already distributes Sonus faber in North America alongside SME, Pro-Ject Audio Systems and two brands which remain in the hands of Sumiko founders Donald Brody and John Hunter, namely REL sub-bass systems and Wolf Cinema.
Fine Sounds now has direct distribution into the world’s largest markets, Sumiko in the US and Sonus faber Asia in China which should ensure that its brands are among the most successful in the high end.
Sonus faber CEO Mauro Grange commented: “Fine Sounds very much appreciates the results that SUMIKO has delivered in the past as Sonus faber’s distributor and look forward to working together to maximize the North American market potential. Our goal is to increase connection with, and responsiveness to, our largest markets”.
