Default Nat King Cole SACD & 45RPMx4 Re-Releases

Just another music FYI -- NKC re-releases by Analogue Productions & mastered from the Original 3-Track Analogue Master Tapes by Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman at Acoustech are, from the first 4 I have received, sonically out of this world for a NKC fan. The vinyl is oh so quiet and detailed with NKC in the room effects.

Those 4 are:
The Very Thought of You
Where Did Everyone Go?
Love Is The Thing
St. Louis Blues

The SACD's are due out shortly; check MD/AS/ED for details on release dates of the SACD's and other vinyl re-releases.

The SACD & vinyl remastering are done differently & therefore have their own unique sound -- ever so minor according to SH/KG.

From AS on these SACD's:

"This has been a totally no-expenses-spared project. Using the original three-track work tapes from Capitol's vaults, mastering engineers Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman along with DSD specialist Gus Skinas bring you an entirely incomparable SACD experience. In addition to the stereo mixes, this SACD includes a three-track transfer for multichannel playback and the original mono mix taken from separate microphone feeds, mixing consoles and tape machines at the original sessions. In order to master from the three-track masters, AcousTech had to be outfitted for three-channel playback. That meant Kevin Gray had to find a third identical monitoring channel chain (including mixing board, amplifier and speaker) as well as a three-track playback headstack and also a three-track preview head for the vinyl cutting system. It was a massive assignment. We've spent a fortune to include these extra bells and whistles and to make this a truly historic reissue."

Once these are gone -- they are gone & will never be reissued under AP again.

You'll be amazed Dave --

I'm thinking of buying the SACD's too for investment purposes. The older SH releases are selling on the used marked for over $100 each. These, when OOP will be beyond that.

Bob and Dave,

If a guy were going to buy just one for his collection... which one would you suggest?

Hard decision -- and couple variables there. First and foremost would be dependent upon your vinyl rig. If you have a premium rig, then the vinyl would be first choice. SACD otherwise.

I purchased the vinyl of the new "Love Is The Thing" a few days ago - looking forward to hearing how it sounds and will look at the other ones on vinyl and/or SACD (I already have them all on CD) depending on how I like it

Stephen...if you like NKC you need all of them, if not, any of the first 4 that are available. I like Love Is The Thing, St.Louis Blues, Where Did Everyone Go just close your eyes and pick one you won't be disappointed.
