Just pre-ordered thru MD using their 10% Fathers' Day promotion (AS would not honor the MD discount -- tight times I was told):

LAP782-45 NAT KING COLE - AFTER MIDNIGHT (180g 45RPM 3LP) $74.99 ...... $67.49

LAP1613-45 NAT KING COLE - A NAT KING COLE STORY (180g 45RPM 8LP) $134.99 ...... $121.49

LAP903-45 NAT KING COLE - JUST ONE OF THOSE THINGS (180g 45RPM 2LP) $49.99 ...... $44.99

Total Shipping: $7.53
Total Sales Tax: $0.00
Total: $241.50

Wonder why AS has the 8LP boxset for $150 vs. $135 at MD?????????

Bob

Received the highlighted issues in on Friday and just awesome. The Nat King Cole Story, an 8 LP 45RPM set isn't available until August.

These NKC reissues are much better -- infact kill/stomp/beat the heck out of the previous Pure Pleasures SH issues (because of the masters involved & mastering/cutting setup).

The more and more I play these records, the more and more I'm inclined to acquire the SACD versions for general listening enjoyment when doing chores around the house. The SACD's are mastered differently than the LP's -- but the music in itself is downright awesome.

I have the first two SACDs, and I really do like them. On the multi-channel, Nat's voice is located center. At first that was bit disconcerting.

Thanks Terry.

Rarely do I double dip -- vinyl & especially SACD's -- this however, is an exception.

It's well worth it. I will probably end up with all variations of these.

For those new or just dipping their toes into Nat King Cole, I recommend After Midinight. It's a nice combination of jazz musicians with Nat, and it features a great deal of Nat on the piano. As the liner notes state, Nat could also have been one of the great jazz pianists.

Boy I really want to get these but the prices are out of my range at the moment. Which is a shame as by the time they are in range they'll be OOP!!

I've been meaning to buy some Nat lps so these came just at the right time too.

I think I'll opt for the previous After Midnight remaster on lp for now and try and source better copies of originals as I can.

Some really nice stuff though.

... maybe you can move into them one at a time.

Most of them have great cover art, suitable for framing or displaying otherwise.
