Did you check to make sure the filters and upsampling were set the same on each player?

Possibly more run in time on the K-01X as it needs lots of hrs to really open up and perform

Try 176.4 kHz (4x) upsampling and S_DLY2 filter for RBCD. Should be a big difference....

Default Another K-01x replacing K-03

Interesting but futile exercise Paul. Unhook the K03 and move on! You will sleep better and make many here less nervous.

I've enjoyed my K-01x more since I sold my K-03. I think that overanalyzing this stuff takes all the fun out of it. I also think that there is merit in the claims about the K-01x taking a long time to break in.

K-03 is now unhooked. K-01x is sounding better and better with each hour it is played. I am not going back.

I'm not surprised the difference isn't night and day. We are not comparing a Sony discman to the K-01X. The K-03 was made by the same engineers. Is a 2017 Porsche Turbo that much better than a 2014? Its the last 1% we spend the most to achieve. The law of diminishing returns applies at this level. Is the K1 light years ahead of the K-01X, I doubt it. Is it better...probably yes. The K-01X brought my sound to a level never achieved in my room. Where do we go from here to hear a profound difference? Full stack Grandioso? DCS stack? With these players, its probably not better just different IMO.

Dave... if your travels permit; try and plan a visit to see me in Cape Cod. You would be amazed to hear the differences between the K03-X, K01-X, Grandioso K1, and Grandioso P1/D1.

Each one is a noticeable step up from the previous model. I can even rather easily discern the difference from my G01 clock to the new Grandioso G1 Master Clock.

The human ear is mind boggling, as even my 60 year old ears can appreciate these fantastic players.
