Slanted Ceiling in Potential New Home

I'm toying with the idea of buying a different home and looking for advice on the room where my main system would go. Anyone here have experience with or know if a slanted/angled ceiling as shown in picture would have any negative impact on room acoustics? Or with room treatment, could any potential issues be corrected?

I would consider placing the rear of the speakers facing the wall with the fireplace and firing back to the longer distance in the room (22ft.). The room is 22ft. L X 15ft. W. If this poses any acoustic issues, I will remove this house from the short list. Otherwise, its a contender as this home has been remodeled down to the studs.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are the floors ceramic tile?

Nice space Glenn! When I got my Amati Futura's placed in my listening room, the Sumiko-trained salesman who placed them said that my peaked ceiling was very helpful, being less box-like. The combination of non-symmetrical room dimensions and surfaces that reduce reflection should be helpful.

I would put speakers on the left hand side of the room firing across from the shorter (floor to ceiling height) to the taller (floor to ceiling height). This would similar to how many stages and halls are built....try that first. The temptation would be to put the speakers on either side of the fireplace but then you have uneven ceiling heights for left versus right channel; I would think that would not be optimum. Nice space....keep this house on the short list (IMHO)!

80B, good to know. So the slanted ceiling could actually be a positive attribute to room acoustics.

SCAudiophile, thank you for your input. I hadn't really thought about positioning the speakers this way, but I'll take a look. My concern about this configuration is being too close to the speakers once they are set up as the width is only 15ft. Was thinking the speakers would be at least a couple of feet off the wall, add another 2ft. for speaker depth, then sitting position about a foot or so off the back wall would put sweet spot about ~10ft. 11 ft. is actually the distance between my speakers and listening position in my current home. 11 ft. seems ok, but wouldn't mind a little more distance if I could get it.

You are welcome....the photo makes the room look wider than that but it is worth a try. I am no acoustic engineer but to me, that config may beat dealing with irregular L versus R ceiling height or putting them the right side firing into the space as the ceiling slopes backward. Way I figure it, if concert halls and acoustic shells around large orchestra open like that, it makes sense to try speakers firing into a space that opens progressively versus one that closes down along the axis of speaker throw......my 2 cents as they say.

I have a partially angled ceiling and don't have any problems with it. The slant gives a non-parallel surface to diffuse reflections
