Was the MDA1000 100% designed by McIntosh?
I rather doubt the D1100 is Wadia DAC with a Mcintosh case and Blue Meters.

That's absurd.

Who the heck knows? I could argue that there might have been a commercial relationship before Fine Sounds was formed. Now we sound like TV news channels.

It really doesn't matter.

Of course D1100 was designed by the same engineering team who designed C1100 so they are the perfect match.

Same here, Timobi. I'm getting ready to do a similar DAC comparison with the Esoteric as well. My audiophile friend is McIntosh fan like myself, but opted to go the Esoteric route. We both haven't heard the other DAC, so we want to have a little get together and compare the DACs.

Glad to see the D1100 holding its own just fine in this thread though. I just ordered a MCT450 and can't wait to pair it with the D1100!

The MCT450 with the D1100 will be an awesome combination. Now all you need is the D1100 hooked up to the C1100.
