Jim, tar isn't as glamorous as a new amp. A new amp doesn't sound very good without the tar though.

Dan, breaking in is going slowly. Work and other commitments keep getting in the way of my listening schedule. I have all the Gold Lions in and I am liking what I am hearing so far. The 2301's don't seem to run as hot as my 275's did which is good for the summer.

Paul.......I hate it when work gets in the way of pleasure!

Good to hear the Gold Lion tubes are rewarding you with clean performance. I agree with you about the heat. When I was running a pair of MC275's in mono configuration in my studio system the room temperature seemed to rise quicker with the 275's than it does with the MC2301's. The 2301 amplifiers are remarkable in every way.

Congrats on your new 2301's.

I could not be happier with mine. By far, the best purchase of I have ever made in my audio journey. I'm still delighted with the Mcintosh stock tubes, but look forward rolling them once the time comes.

For those of you that like Neil Young, I recommend that you try out playing his "Sleeps with Angels" album (I stream it from Tidal) - my 2301's can truly take this excellent recording to another level! The 2301 is truly in a league of it's own.

Paul....Not sure how I missed this thread. Maybe I was unconsciously avoiding reading about any new McGear.

Congratulations!

Andrew, I will try out your Neil Young suggestion. I am a fan.
Michael, It is not to late to make a switch.

Since selling my MC601's, which I loved, I now have more room and the room doesn't look as messy.
