Room is 12 X 18 X 8 and is mostly open on the left side (when facing the system). Have you listened to the Mick Jagger song "She's The Boss"?

Any comments on set up appreciated - I think I may need to space the Auditor Ms father apart and move the REL between them. My listenin position is about13' from the current M location.

Miner the space between the speakers depends on how far away your listening chair is. You want to set up a equilateral triangle between the speakers and your ears . I find a little toeing in of the speakers helps quite a bit.

Miner, if you are 13' from the speakers you may want to try pulling them out from the wall a couple of feet and just spreading them out a bit. Just watch to make sure that they do not end up with the exact distance from the back wall as they are from the side wall. That does not work for most speakers. Can't help you with toe-in or sub suggestions but with what you have there you should be able to get great sound with some minor (no pun intended) tweaking.

miner.......Adding to Jim's comments, the room looks highly reflective with the bare walls and exposed hardwood floors. Perhaps a larger area rug in front of the Auditors, and several 2' x 4' x 2" or 4" thick acoustical panels on the back wall would help to improve the room's sonic signature.

Set up of Auditors, or any other speakers for that matter, is a function of many things. Certainly an equilateral triangle would be a good starting point. The distance apart they ultimately end up is directly related to the bass coupling between them as indicated by bass output/extension/linearity. There's much more but that fundamental determines their limit. Toe in too will be a function of multiple parameters. And a tape measure is absolutely useless to determine where you want them to be.

As for REL crossovers, the REL hi level crossover should almost never be set above 40HZ. Certainly nowhere near that for Auditors. Why? Because in order to properly blend the sub to the mains it must cross at 1/2 an octave to an octave below the speaker's in room roll off point. That allows you to maximize the RELs output down at the bottom of it's range without having to turn down the gain to prevent bloating through the overlap region. The goal is maximum bass extension and output with linearity. If the Auditors are set up correctly in the room, the crossover on a B2 will typically range from A3 to A5. When you think you've found the perfect setting, try dropping the crossover 1 click and raising the gain 2 clicks.

BTW the Rel should be in the corner angled at the opposite corner for best extension and linear output. Moving in from the corner toward the center of the room will limit ultimate extension.

I have nothing to add to the last 3 posts. Pure gold. Listen to the sage advice.
