When I assembled my stands it was by picture only - no verbage. By looking at the stands you would think the spikes would be adjustable by the knurled knob - not so. SF (Sumiko) said to adjust the spikes (w/o knobs) first the tighten down the knobs to hold them in place. Oh well, maybe next revision of stands will be adjustable with knobs. Once I sell my Dynaudios (52SE/Stand4/Sub20A) I will upgrade my digital source (Rotel RCD-1072) to a Bryston BCD-1.
BTW, B-E-A-utiful setups here guys. |

I find with my JL's (subs), the higher I set the external crossover, the better the Auditors sound. (80hz to 100hz) Seems like you would have a hz hole setting the x-over at 26hz even with room boost. |

I believe it is rather specific to REL. REL subs are designed to function best with regards to the lowest bass notes. A REL sub is not truly designed to play upwards of 80 or 100 Hz whereas the JL subs are very musical all way up to 120 Hz or so. Best of both worlds would be to crossover your mains and subs to avoid a bass hump with overlapping frequencies - maybe you already have Myself, I have my dual REL B2's crossover set at 36Hz with excellent results. Gain is about 1/2 but I don't have then corner loaded so I need more gain. Ruffdoc, I have a small room and subs make a tremendous difference!

I agree with Ruffoc...the Auditors love space. I wish my room was larger to allow more space around the speakers. I achieved a much better sound when I moved my equipment out from between the Auditors and got sound treatments.

All the Sonus Faber speakers need space and I've had 3 different pairs in my house. The Elipsa and Strads are a bit more forgiving but for the most part expect pretty heavy coupling to side walls and the resulting bass bloat and loss of articulation as well as heavy overhang unless you give them some "elbow room".
