Got it. I forgot which Shindo amp you have Serge. That should be a very fair fight indeed

I think the GM70 (at 20W) is a more fair fight.

Serge,
This will be interesting.
My bet ? The Shindo will win. Hands down.
Why ? :
I have seen many of these Lamm blocks on the used market, including in France / Belgium. Lamm is not a big company so it never means good things when a product can easily be found used. Try to find a Cortese on the used market !
I don't mean that the Lamm don't sound good. I bet they sound awesome.
My guess is that they won't be as neutral and true to the source as the Shindo's.
Imho, we get bored of non neutral sound. Colored sound is very impressive and seductive at the beginning. Long term, it is an other story.
When I mean neutral, I don't mean cold or sterile of course. But I mean true to the source.

We find easily Porsche, Ferrari and second-hand Aston Martin, it is not necessarily pejorative, the production and the import of Shindo is low and the prices very high....It would be necessary to be able to have the number of units produced and imported to compare and gauge the second-hand market

Hey,
I hope you're doing better buddy.
Porsche, Ferrari and AM are very big companies compared to Lamm.
Yes, I would be curious to know how many of these blocks were produced by Lamm...

So did you ever get a Lamm vs. Shindo comparison? I am looking at both options (Cortese and ML2.1s), so in the same boat.

Thanks,

KeithR

I have no idea how this shoot-out will conclude, but will offer that the 6n6p tube should be replaced, that if the rest of the tube complement is not fresh, it will benefit from a retube (I just did mine, to remarkable effect, on an ML2) and that the 12ax7 should be rolled with a ribbed Tele. After that, just let 'em warm up, check the bias (using a good quality meter, Vlad specifies the Fluke) and enjoy.

Could be another interesting showdown between the Shindo and Lamm!

What is the final tally in the shootout?

slightly off topic.
i own both Kondo Ongaku & Lamm ML2.1. both rather different amps, each with their own strengths & weaknesses. never heard Shindo amps. wondering how they compare against the ML2.1?
