Default Summit X!

Well, I moved my speakers didn't I & tonight was going to be a drink free night as I had a few reds last night & put the MBP on shuffle with the occasional request thrown in, had a helluva time I did short of a hangover. Well..... heres me in the kitchen tonight doing the odd thing or two that I do do in there & I got this urge to move the speakers forward from 4 ft to about 4 1/2 ft from the wall & bugger me, didn't things get interesting. Well long to the short, left the kitchen pretty smartly, turned it up, grabbed a brew & haven't stopped yet as all things are really sounding so superb. I know a few of us here know that feeling when we sit & listen to our systems & are so proud of the sound that we have managed to achieve with our choices of the gear & time of effort that we've put into the set-up & placement to the point that we are just happy to leave things as is until we get an inclination & it's like another 5% that we thought just wasn't possible.
60 second thought process...
60 seconds to move the speakers...
Didn't cost me a Visa moment although the enjoyment should have...
Priceless...

Kev,

That is really cool. I know there is a similar sweat spot in my room too. I just have to find it.

The Summits are a reat speaker. I had the ML Spire for a year and enjoyed them very much. One thing with MartinLogans is that they are very critical of placement and need to be kept clear of walls around them. When placed correctly they can perform up there with the best.
Any time spent in fine tuning their placement will pay dividends in sound quality (soundstage width and depth, detail, tonality).

Don't forget to play with adjusting the speaker tilt! The new spikes make this very easy!

That was one of my first trial & errors, was actually thinking of revisiting the effort again
