My listening room is on the second floor and is carpeted but was having a very difficult time with the turntable and hum at higher volumes. Placed a flat solid brick under each foot of the stand and the problem was solved. Now I can listen to my vinyl as loud as I want! Very inexpensive but isn't the best looking solution for sure. With the lights down who cares though!
