Hi,

I had Rotel, Classé Audio, McIntosh , AResearch. & Krell.

Now I have a PASS LABS X250.5 with XP20.

For me is the Top. I will buy a extra XA100.5.

Of course brand like a Constellation & FMacoustics are a nirvana....for me out of budget

Love Pass sound, the power draw not so much, considering my audio system is always on.

I've had my Pass XA-100.5 monoblocks for three months now. I am loving these beautiful beasts! Tube-like warmth with incredible purity and minimal coloration. This particular model delivers plenty of Class A power to my Revel Salons (they never leave Class A) but the power draw and heat produced do not appear to be an issue whatsoever. The sound is excellent right from the moment of powering up, terrific after 30 minutes, truly awesome after an hour and jaw dropping after two hours. I can't wait to get home from work every night to push those big round buttons and watch those blue meters light up. I think things will only get better over time as I upgrade the front end of my system. But I have to say, I wouldn't trade these amps for anything. I honestly have zero complaints at this point and that's a rarity for me.

PSF,

Welcome to AA? Which Salons do you have - series 1 or 2?

PlanarSpeakerFan.......Good to hear you are happy with your Pass Labs XA-100.5 mono block amplifiers. The pair of amps consumes 600 watts total whether playing music or idling. Do you have the amps in a large open area or in a dedicated room? I imagine they could raise the temperature of a closed room without air conditioning in the summer.

Thanks Ritmo, a great group of audiophiles here. I have the Salon 2s, also for three months. How are you liking your Salon 2s? Maybe we need a Revel spot on here too.

Hi Dan, they reside in a fairly large and open room (not dedicated) with central air conditioning. Thankfully, I've never had any heat issues, even in the dog days of July and August. A little off topic, but I can't wait to audition that Esoteric K-03 after reading your stellar review!

PlanarSpeakerFan.......Are you planning to eventually go with one of Pass Lab's preamps? The XP-20 would be a nice match for the XA-100.5 amps.

BTW, if you don't mind, what is your first name?

Nice photo Dan, thanks!

It's certainly a possibility. My first task is to upgrade my digital front end. Then, I'll try an in-home demo of the XP-20 or XP-30 sometime next year to see if it yields any improvement to the sound compared to without preamp.
