Hi Dan, they must have about 35 hours of use now, so I'm still far from the 100 hours you told me. Here are my first impressions : -Treble is much crispier - Medium is more transparent, but actually there is an increase in overall transparency, all over the spectrum. It feels like the absorption material inside the speaker had changed. But it's probably the new filter. The overall transparency is closer to my pannels now, but with better dynamics of course. - Bass is I think where much of the improvements are seen : It is now just incredible ! and makes the need for pannels more obvious ! ( They arrived this week at the airport, from GIK acoustics because your brand of pannels which I don't remember (ATS ? ) could " not sell outside USA". But I have a problem with the private company which made the customs work. They ask the same amount for them that the taxes I paid ! So I have a total of 450 euros to pay, out of 800 euros of value !! - I just took 6 pannels for the moment- .... I'm contacting an administration office to report them the problem. Prices are free, but here, there is a real abuse....) - Dynamics were very good with the EB1. Now they seem unlimited. Conclusions are : you were right, with Ian : I had much to earn changing the EB1 to the EB1 i instead of getting some money back. But I'm sure they will sound better in a while... To talk about jumpers, I never tried the factory ones, either on EB1 or i. I was raised with the fact that these jumpers are always of lower quality than a good cable. So on all my previous speakers, I always removed them. But I notice one thing : some manufacturers put really cheap jumpers ( in a kind of steel ). I think this way they say " hey, put some good cable here ok ? , because we can't do everything ! " and I would say they are right. And I feel quite the same with PMC jumpers. ( That's also the same with jumpers in integrated amps, between pre an power terminals : usually just a piece of steel. I noticed there that removing it and replacing them by a good quality cable was improving the sound in a very sensible way....) They put some jumpers so the speakers work out of the box. I think they know that most of the time, the users will remove them. BTW, I use anticables jumpers anc cables from Paul Speltz. www.anticables.com. I will post a picture of them today. They cost almost nothing. I did not compare them to High End cables. But either on my pannels, the PMC and my other speakers, they really work GREAT. They offer a top notch transparency. I really don't see what could I have more with an other cable. I actually compared them to the Linn cable (which is not cheap but not a high end one either...) and they were much better. On my Linn Classik 08 amp. Actually for me, putting a lot of money in cables makes me feel uncomfortable. When I will have some time, I will try high end cables and compare them to the anticables. There is a great shop in Paris where you can borrow all the cables you want, with a caution. You don't like them : you bring them back. But I think this " When I will have some time " reminds me the speech of the Rabbis. " Don't say, when I will have some time, I will study the Bible. Because, maybe, you will never have that time ". To me, there are so many more important things to do in Life, that "listening to cables " seems to be a joke ! I hope this statement, which is very personnal, will not insult anyone here. I admire people who find the time for that. Usually, they are very active people, and they find the time to do thousands of things.... I think I just don't have that energy. So I rely more on confidence and experiences from others. Cheers, and thanks again President ! Jérôme

Jérôme.......I am pleased that the new EB1i speakers are in place and performing well for you. Your break-in period will continue for awhile longer, but I know they are sounding good right now. I am not sure the absorption material inside the speaker has been changed, but the entire cabinet is made of thicker material, with more internal bracing, so this may be adding to the overall improvement in the EB1i's sound. They are truly gorgeous speakers.
I am shocked at the fees paid that doubled the cost of your acoustic panels. That is outrageous. It's robbery. Once you have the panels installed, and the EB1i's have a couple of hundred hours on them, give us another review of how they sound in your room, and some photos. Congratulations of your entire sound room. It was a long time coming. I know you will enjoy it to the maximum.

Thanks for your comments. I will send to you a PM : I received the 6 pannels I ordered today. I will need you to tell me where I should put them. Or I'll send to you an email with pictures : it will be easier. The sound is quite good now, with pannels only put on the floor and not attached to the walls. There is still a small echo when I tap my hands, but really not much. (Yes, you're right, that's robbery !) BTW, I will do my maximum to go to listen to the TT you're interested in, the Xtension. But I don't have much time these days. -I'm moving my office : a huge work - My father will be at the hospital next week - I have the income taxes to declare.... I think I will be able to listen to it in 3 weeks. Cheers, Jérôme
