I too hesitate: Maxx3 or Alexia?

I was very impressed yesterday with the tweeter's finesse, the medium's lifelike reality/presence, and with the bass sector; in every point Alexia's seemed to be better than my beloved WP8.

The Maxx3 is an awesome speaker for sure. The Alexia does sound better to my ears (it is after all personal preference) but I would certainly not be upset if I had to live with a Maxx3! I would seriously consider the price difference between a nice preowned pair of Maxx3 and the price of a new Alexia, especially in Europe Jean-Marc. At some point, you have to ask yourself, how much is that fractional difference worth? I say "fractional" for a lack of a better term because how does one quantify the difference really? I would be very happy with the Maxx3 as well.

I would also like to add that a preowned pair of Sasha's (or new) would be a seriously great choice as well! I've owned both the Sasha and now Alexia and I do not hesitate for a second to say I would also not be upset if I never upgraded! They are all great speakers!

If we talk money for high end stuff, the good deal is to buy in the best condition possible at around 40% of the value; in these conditions, the loss when you will resell is not huge, you had enjoyed and basta!

A contrario, when you buy new (not forgetting that in this case you have warranty, installation, service etc...), you lose very quickly (3 or 4 years) 50% of the price paid.

Right now, that's the deal I have on a never used Maxx3 (nevertheless,I have to check it: go to drive 500 km, be sure everything is Ok,pay and come back with the very very heavy crates, have then to unpack and install.... a real hassle imo, but a lot of money to earn).

On the other side buying new Alexias (delivered, installed, warranty and so on), WP8 traded in with my dealer, who makes a good price...

Make it short, Maxx3 keeping the WP8 (install in my HT or resell) = new Alexias, not keeping WP8.

That is financial point of view.

my room is pretty large (can you see the pic in my sig?), WP8 are 4.50 meters one from the other one, and my sweet spot is around 4.70 meter from the speaker line, letting another 5 .30 meters behind the couch. Height is 2,50 meters.

Do you think Maxx3 would be oversized?

Try and audition both; to me the Alexia sounds better than the Maxx 3, but I've only heard the M3 at last year's RMAF where it was in way too small of a room to do it justice.

I forgot to mention I'll get Alexias loan for the week end...perhaps my mind will be clearer after.

Jean-Marc, sadly I have more questions than answers. I asked because a 68" tall speaker that weighs 425 pounds per channel and goes down to 20 H on its own is likely to sound glorious in the right room and boomy in too small of a room. I truly do not know if yours is too small. Alexia is 53 and 1/4 " tall, weighs 256 punds per channel, and also claims to go down to 20 H, so it is basically a bit taller than a Sasha. My guess is ... you are probably fine acoustically. WAF is a whole different issue, for which I have no advice at all.
