Default Should I up grade?

I currently own strad's but have the opportunity to trade and add cash for the lilium,s New in box.

I have Mc 2301 amps and a pair of mc 501s I could use to drive them.

Also c2300 pre, VPI Super Scoutmaster TT

Question is should I keep strads, and upgrade to c1100 and or a separate phono stage, better loom of wire, or go for the Lilium's and upgrade the rest later.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance

Richard.......Have you had the opportunity to listen to the SF Lilium speakers? Since you are already know the sound of the Stradivari's, hearing the Liliums with familar music should let you know in short order whether your find them a step up. Interestingly, the Lilium and Stardivari are both rated at 92dB sensitivity so your MC2301's should mate to the Lilium performance perimeter without any issues. You will be trading the Strad's ring radiator tweeter for the Lilium's 1" damped apex-dome tweeter and a different midrange driver, and you will be trading the Strad's two SEAS 12" aluminum/magnesium-cone woofers for the Lilium's three 7" woofers made with a lightweight sandwich-cone structure and a passive radiator. Of course there is a striking appearance difference beween the Strad's and the Lilium's.

I think at the Lilium's price point (retail $65,000) it would serve you well to have some audition time before making a final decision. My gut tells me you are unlikely to be disappointed by the Lilium, so if the deal is sweet enough even without an audition you might want to take advantage of the offer. There will always be preamps and phono stages available, but a special deal on Liliums without having to find a buyer for your Strads might just be the ticket.

Great advice from Dan. You should definitely audition if possible, but if you have a space that can support the Liliums, you have the resources, and you have a good opportunity, go for it. I think speakers like that would become a foundation you can build around for many years. If I had the room and the cash to play in that arena I wouldn't hesitate.

Default Should I up grade?

In case you haven't seen them already, these graphs highlight the differences in tweeter characteristics between the Stradivari (middle) and Lilium (right).

This is what Michael Fremer said:

"Using three graphs Tezzon showed on-axis and off-axis measurements of previous sonus faber tweeters compared to those of the new 28mm H28 XTR-04 silk dome tweeter. The new design combines extended, flat high frequency response along with superior off-axis response."

Wow. That was cool. One of my main concerns is the size of my room. It small. I'm worried that the liliums will be too much speaker for my current room.
