I think I'll just wait six months before I jump into this pond. I'm very happy with my system as is.

I have just upgraded my Vivaldi firmware to V1.10. It took almost 60 minutes to upgrade one piece, so a complete 4 pieces upgrade took a whole afternoon.

the main advancement is the come back of the "easy play" function in the Verdi/Elgar system. When you are playing music from CAS and you play a disc in the transport, the system will automatically switch to disc.

What's more is when you play SACD, it selects AES 1 + 2 from transport to DAC, when you play standard CD, it auto selects to AES 3 + 4 via upsampler.

As for the sound, I don't have time to listen carefully but it was claimed by dCS that there is improvement due to better synchronization with the upgraded clock firmware. I shall try it out in the next few days.

Listen to the new firmware for a while, there is obvious improvement. It is a better clock performance that brings the better sound.

Since I have not changed anything, just a software upgrade, the improvement is easy to spot. Anyone using Vivaldi should ask for the upgrade discs now.

The final version V1.2 has been released. Together there is V61 for network.

Hi TLi,

What improvements will the V1.2 & V61 bring about?

Thanks!

Most of the improvement is in V1.1. V1.2 just added a few more thing likes RS232 Text mode commands, and native streaming for DFF and DSF files for Network V61.

I have no transport. I presume you can update from a laptop? Anyone tried it with a Mac. I abandoned Windows a long time ago and don't have any of it in the house.

Last time when I had updated the software, I did not have the Vivaldi transport (now I have full stack) I had used Oppo BDP-103 blu-ray player with PCM setting on, so you may just try using or sourcing a similar unit perhaps.
