You are right, I've never compared them directly. It's just my opinion based on what I know about them, and I did own the 802's for a while, as well as other diamond series speakers and JL audio subs. As always, it's just my 2 cents, YMMV.
Just wanted to point it out. With your ability to hear differences between your old Sasha's and new v2's plus knowing you heard differences in Transparent cables you would be able to hear the differences here too.

I have no doubt the 800 sounds better than the 802 based on the larger drivers, better cross over, and overall better and more inert cabinet.

If you look at all the diamond speakers 804 to 800, the cross over points are the same. The FST Nd diamond tweeter handle the exact same frequencies on all 4 speakers. The only difference between all 4 are cabinetry, Marlan enclosures, bass units and cross over parts. Yet no one will argue that the 804 and 803 sound different. And that's a similar concept. To me the 803 sounds warmer and has better midrange definition compared to the 804 and so does the 800 over the 802.

I think in my position, I knew I wanted a diamond speaker and I also want a stradivari... Best for me to do is buy an 802 for now while I wait for the bigger speaker to pop it's head and then get that also. Also this will get me a good idea of how my room and equipment sounds with the 802 diamond and will foreshadow whether I will move up to the 800 diamonds... Which is a very real possibility.

Congrats. I really love my 802 Diamonds. I would be willing to pay about twice what they cost for something I'd like even more but I haven't found it. I have tried but I either don't prefer what I've heard at dealers or shows or when I brought a highly regarded pair home, assuming they would trounce the 802 Diamonds didn't like them as much. It's been much easier for me to extract improvements with better components, cables and power and the Diamonds happily reveal the equipment improvements. They play unreasonably well with my sub optimal room size and shape. 800's would be too overpowering for the room.

If B&W updates again, I would be more than interested

Any word on a update? Seems like the current is getting long in the tooth as they say. I saw the old forums talking about an update coming.

Long in the tooth? I think not. The Strads have been out since 2005.

But in the case of the BW series... it will get replaced probably in 1-2 years. The 802 diamond should easily last me until then - or unless YOU pick them up from me and I move to the 800 diamonds Pooya.

Pops!

I have no doubt I will return to the Logan clan shortly... there was a pair of Ethos in Teak that I mistakenly passed on.... should've jumped on it since it was a local sale.
