Default Elipsa SE vs Cremona M?

I am faced with two possibilities:

1) Cremona M paired with approximately $10,000 in electronics (not including cabling). Let's assume I select either a great integrated or the best separates I could buy within this budget.

2) Elipsa SE paired with approximately $3000 worth of electronics (again, no cabling). Something like a used Luxman 505u or a Music Fidelity M6i.

The budget is not flexible and I would not be upgrading the electronics or speakers for quite some time. Telling me that I should stretch to get Amati's won't help because it is not going to happen according to the wife.

My room is approximately 16Wx20Lx14H. I like classical guitar and female vocalists, but occasionally some rock or electronic music. I have the Cremona M right now but am considering returning them due to some complications I have had with my setup and defective components (McIntosh C50 + MC275).

What would you choose between the two combinations above and why?

I would keep the Cremona M. Get a second MC275 (run them in mono), get the D100 for preamp. Would be nice to add PurePower+ 2000. Why: b/c this would be very close to my dream setup. You could also check out Zu Audio Definition Mk.IV and just have one MC275. I love American made

I tried adding a second MC275 and brought one home from my dealer. It did not make a big enough difference to justify the added cost to me. I had a hard time detecting any difference at all... at least with the Cremona M's.

In fact, I have a hard time hearing any difference between most amps and preamps that I compared...

I do hear a large difference between different styles of speakers. For example SF and B&W speakers, even in the same show room with identical equipment, strike me as sounding very different.

I was disappointed because I thought that by adding better electronics behind the Cremona's that the sound would change much, but it did not... and that has lead me to consider the Elipsas.

It has been my experience that the 275VIs mono'd with the SE sound much better than with just one 275.

What is your total budget (are you planning to return everything)? You could buy the Elipsa SE and a used MA6600. This integrated amp sounded great with my Futuras. My question is what is the main issue with the Cremonas?

I would go for the Elipsa SE, and some used electronics.

I like the look of the glossy red violin finish much better. The Cremona M's finish looks fake in comparison.

For 3K, you can get some decent used electronics from McIntosh.

I have no problem with the Cremona, except the Elipsa seemed to have better bass and a wider/deeper soundstage when I compared them side by side...

Thanks for the input so far. I will take a look at what used gear I could pair with the Elipsa SE.
