I used the DVL-91 for the first time following the repair, and all is well. Except, the aspect ratio seems stuck on 16:9. I don't remember how to change it so that it's source-dependent, so I'll have to dig out the manual. I don't think it was doing this before the power supply bellied up.

I also have a Pioneer Elite player in my 70 Cuda, it is the model with a full on copper chassis, neat graphic display and a remote, has external connections for ipad, and aux too. 4ch amp 22x4 at rms and i think car audio rated 50 watts a ch.

Pioneer Premier DEH-P800PRS Mine is a special edition Elite version of this amp, and it (mine) has a few more high-end goodies for back in the day.

Note puts my old super tuner and my alpine to shame! Very clean amp and dac. Copper helps to block MF and RF noises too. I posted a pick of the USA model, I can not find one on mine to post but it is similar to below

Default Pioneer Elite

Pioneer is the only one to offer one of the last audiophile grade head units. It seams that hi end car audio is really no more. My start in hi end audio began with car stereos. Unfortunately they just don’t make them like they used to. I had an Alpine 7909 combined with a complete a/d/s/ system consisting of amplifiers, crossovers and speakers.
The system was amazing. I then replaced the Alpine 7909 with a McIntosh MX4000/MDA4000 combo and a McIntosh MC406M. While the head unit was amazing, the a/d/s/ amps and crossovers sounded better than the McIntosh. Focal makes some nice car audio now but there just isn’t the demand like there was in the 80’s and 90’s for the super high end car audio. Nice head unit!!!

Brings back great memories! The stereos in new cars are so woven into the nav system it’s really hard to swap them out for better aftermarket kit.

That just looks like it sounds good. And I'm sure it does. The copper chassis is killer.

I do, but not stored away completely. It's in its box on my living room floor, having been supplanted by Pioneer's 88FD (see post #53). I was going to use the 09 as my backup and repurpose, sell or donate my Oppo 83, but both Pioneers respond to a single remote and I got flustered by that. So the 09 was odd player out instead.

The 88 loads faster and can do 4K. Though I don't have a 4K TV, the 88 is insurance if I do get a 4K TV at some point.
