I’ll try and answer your questions. I am still new to this so more experienced members please weigh in. You hardwire your NAS to your home network. Each NAS has software to manage this process with a web browser interface. You use a tablet to control an ‘endpoint’ or ‘renderer’ - a device that takes your stored files in whatever format they’re in and sends them to the DAC of your choice in the format you choose. The endpoint can be hardwired or wireless. Lots of hardware and software options here. Audio quality is the same as a spinning disc. All my SACD’s live in two places - cardboard boxes in the attic and on hard drives. So yes to that one. You’ll need a DAC of your choice connected to whatever endpoint you choose. Eventually I’ll kick my PC’s to the curb. Not quite there yet.
