Hard Disk Upgrade/Swap on C15
Has anyone attempted this? I'm concerned about the drive in mine failing and don't want to be dependent on my closest dealer to do the work.
I am contemplating opening it up and trading out the hard disk to see what happens. The next move would be to clone the old drive and see if that works. Does anyone know what OS they use? |

I think the Control 10 and 15 are Windows XP (I think there was a XP sticker on a preproduction C15 unit the local Meridian rep had). If so, it should be a simple thing to clone.
It would be nice to be able to replace the hard drive without sending it to Meridian. My C10 is over 3 years old now, those drives don't last forever. If you get it to work, let us know.

I am trying to add Genre and Style categories via Control Mac but keep getting hung up. Have you had any luck? I select a album Select "Edit Album" Select the Genre tab Select "Add New Style" Fill in the "Enter New Style's name" dialog box Hit "Create" and nothing happens Do you know what i am doing wrong? |

Select album Select edit album Select the Genre tab Select add new style SELECT A GENRE SELECT A SUBGENRE Fill in the "Enter New Style's Name" dialog box Hit "Create" Unfortunately you can only add a subgenre to an existing genre, you can't create a new main genre.

If you are courious, the Twinstore has two memory slots, one has 1gb RAM and the other slot is empty. I've been thinking of adding another 1gb RAM to my Twinstore.

Did you get around to cloning the C10 hard drive?

Not yet, but planning on doing so over the weekend with these goals:
1. Duplicate my existing drive and confirm that it works. I have no doubt this is possible due to the availability of several bit level drive copying utilities. 2. Install a blank drive to see if it auto formats. 3. Look at the file system of a copy of the current drive, copy it, and then try to expand its partition. My feeling is that the C15 needs a boot CD, which will format a new drive, but hopefully I'm wrong. |
