Just last night I added a DSP7000 as a centre speaker and turned on the Meridian Trifield DSP. Holy Moly! It sounds so much more complete. I need some time to assess it but so far me likes!!!

Its about 14 feet wide and 20 feet long, however, I am moving house soon and the new room will be 14 feet wide and about 23 feet long. I am expecting to sit about 15 feet from the speakers.

Right now I am debating whether it is worth adding rear speakers to the new room for HT or whether the pair of DSP3100s can be better utilised, e.g. as a very simple two channel system with a Wadia idock or Sonos in the living room.

My interest in this Meridian gear is really growing...

Active speakers hold a great interest for me.

Is there a price list to be found anywhere? I know that the TOTL line is out of this world expensive... wondering about some of the "starter" pieces...

The Meridian gear does interest me too and it sure simplifies the system.

One odd note, if you pair the 808.2 with the digital speakers you lose the filters in the CD player as it defaults to the DAC's in the speakers.

How would the active Meridian speakers work with other gear... like say an MCD 500?

I don't think that's right. The apodising filter is applied before the dacs and before the output reaches the speakerlink (Cat5) output so it should still be there even if you don't use the 808's dacs.

Fine. The only thing you lose is the ability to control the mcd500 and speakers at the same time. The meridian remote is a learning remote so you can train it.

I have a Wadia Idock connected to the 2nd digital input of the DSP8000s so it is independent of the cd player and processor. Works a treat!

Probably the world's most minimalist system!

This is the UK Pricelist from July 2009. Bear in mind you can get really good savings on 2nd hand / demo equipment. The 'starter' speakers DSP3100s are excellent for a newbie but if you can do it the DSP5200s are much better.
