Titanium was/is used originally because some people have allergies to 316 SS, Rolex uses 903 SS by the way. As for me I've owned several titanium watches over the years and never really found one I kept. This was mostly due to the finish as many tend to have a bead blasted finish and did allow easy touch up on scuffs or ding, something I tend to be pretty picky about.

Reminds me of a story.

A Grandfather gave in grandson a shotgun for his 16th birthday.
The boy was showing of the shotgun to his friend who proceeded to convince the boy to trade the shotgun for his fancy Gold (ok Titanium) watch.
The Grandson ran back to his Grandfather so proud of swapping the gun for a watch worth almost three times the price.

His Grandfather looked at him and shook his head. "Look in a couple of years you will be a man, you will get married, you will come home and find your wife in bed with another man. What are you gonna do, look at your watch and tell him his time is up????"

I'm in line at Costco waiting to get gas and my windows are rolled down. I laughed out loud so hard everyone was looking at me kinda funny like.
