My last main system was a pair of 805N combined with a Von Schweikert "Tower of Power" sub powered by an Electrocompaniet ECI-4 integrated. I was VERY pleased with that setup with a broad range of source material.

Just wish I could find another pair of dealer demo 805N for the price I paid for that set (under $900 - from a dealer going out of business & needing cash.)

I am a big fan of both the 805S and 805D. I currently own and love the 805D.
Imaging do die for and with careful placing, they simply disappear as a sound source.
The diamond version is a considerable step up in many ways, but the 805s is a wonderful speaker for the cost involved.

My first B&Ws were a pair of N805's in 2000, loved them from the moment I heard them. I now run the 805s as my LR for my home theater set up. Very sweet speaker!

I reached out to the dealer that had a used pair of 805 in SF, but they never replied. I guess they don't want to sell it.

I have the Nautilus 805, it is working but the tweeters (highs) are burned. Any recommendation on repair shop who can fix or replace these tweeters?

Thank you for the welcome.
I currently drive my 805D's with an ARC LS17SE (SE update just recently performed) and a ARC Ref 110 with KT-120's.
Digital Source is Bryston BDP-1 with BDA-1. Analog source is Clearaudio Concept (MC) with Moon 310LP phono pre.

Count me in as a 805 fan. I have a pair of 805s powered by my MC2102 (with a C220 pre).

I love them but I will say they are very unforgiving of bad source material.

Matched with my McIntosh amps they do sound great. I think the tubes do help with the harshness evident in some recordings.

That is a good price for the 805s. They've also maintained their used price quite well so you would have little trouble selling them for little to no loss even if it's later on.

Did you get a chance to compare the S with the D?

I have the 805S's and love them but had been thinking of upgrading to something with a little more bass. However. space restrictions meant that I couldn't go with a larger speaker and my dealer at the time suggested I listed to the 805Ds as the bass was improved.

I'll be moving soon but it's evident that my listening room will still be too small for floor standers and hence will likely stay with bookshelf speakers (a sub will be out of the question in part due to the fact I'll drive the neighbours crazy and being very sensitive to other peoples noise I don't want to be an annoying neighbour )

What would you say are the major benefits of upgrading to the Ds?

Eddie
