It's a really nice phono pre....I was finally able to get the tubes installed last night and hooked up. Only listened to a few things but initial impressions are........nice! Several things I noticed were that the highs seemed quite a bit more realistic and "pristine" for lack of better words. The entire presentation is a bit more vivid and realistic than with the Ref 2SE. I may be just a touch quieter as well. Overall a wonderful sound.....I'll have more to say once I get a bit more hours on it.

Thanks for that clarification. I thought I had read somewhere that cartridges are inherently balanced which may explain why the ARC Phono 3 only has RCA inputs. I agree that the Ref 250SE is a great amp particularly when matched with other ARC components.
