Greetings,

I just bought one of these a few weeks ago. I've cleaned more records in the last few weeks, than I have in the last 20 years, probably 750+ records. It does a great job! One button push start, 6-7 minutes later, you have a very very clean and very quiet record. Some of my un- listenable records are now virtually quiet. It really does a great job of eliminating surface noise, and cleans ultrasonically deep into the grooves. I know Howie had leakage issues a while back, I had heard they had QC issues in manufacturing that have now been solved. Time will tell, so far my has shown no sign of defects. It is such a simple process. I had a VPI 16 for almost 20 years that has worked pretty well, until I heard the results of the Audio Desk System. It's a night and day difference. I re-cleaned all my records with this thing because the sonic results were overwhelmingly better. I'm hopefully that this will provide the years of service that the VPI did, the VPI is built like a tank. The ADS RCM is, too, very well built. It's only the second RCM machine I've owned, so I can't compare to others, but I did have a lengthy conversation with Jeff at Tone Audio prior to purchase, and he has used most of the RCM's out there, and told me this was the best and easiest he has ever used. I would have to agree, as it is simple, and the proof is in the sound. I'm listening to more records than I ever have before. Sure you still hear a pop and a tic now and again, but they are much fewer than ever before. I'm amazed at how this thing works on surface noise.

Just my 2 cents.

Scott

I took delivery of an Audio Desk last week and used it over the weekend. It is replacing a Loricraft PRC-3. Like Scott, I cleaned more records over the weekend than I have in the past six months. It makes the whole task so easy, and does a great job. I think it removes fingerprints better than the Loricraft as well.

Unfortunately, the "start" button on my unit was sometimes unresponsive, so the unit is on its way back to the dealer for repair or replacement.

Scott/KDB...does it come with its own cleaning solution or can one use their favorite cleaning solution with this? The roller pads must get dirty pretty quickly. Can those be washed or do they need to be exchanged? Just curious...thx

I also purchased an Audio Desk, and have been using it for one month now. I concur with rscotth's post. This is the easiest, and best cleaner I have used.

As for the record cleaning solution you must use the recommended solution for the Audio Desk. If you use another solution the ultrasonic cleaning process will cause the solution to foam. I have not tried another solution in my Audio Desk, but I have pre-cleaned some used records found in a thrift store using my Spin Clean. Even though the record was dried with the cloths, and air dried for 30 minutes before a final cleaning using the Audio Desk the bath foamed up during cleaning. Makes me wonder what is left on the vinyl after using the Spin Clean with the Spin Clean solution.

I still recommend pre-cleaning really dirty records before using in the Audio Desk to extend the life of the rotating pads. I now use a purified water rinse after a pre-cleaning in the Spin Clean. The rotating pads in the Audio Desk can be removed, and cleaned when they show signs of soiling.

Forgot to mention that the Audio Desk comes with two bottles of cleaning solution that you mix with distilled water.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the pads will need to be replaced after about 1000 LPs.
