Not going due to me being on the left coast but you bring up fond memories of when the album was released.

I was still in high school an had just discovered Miles Davis and Frank Zappa. I bought Hot Rats right away. I was totally blown by it. Listening to it was the precursor to a time not long after when the only "normal" music I listened to was Frank.

It lasted about two years. I knew all the lyrics, all the tunes and had all the US released albums.

It was a good couple of years. I was lucky to have seen him live twice.

I also had no roommates or girlfriends for any length of time.

Discovered Hot Rats in the mid 70's in the college dorms. Had a roommate that also knew all the lyrics. Know what ya' mean about Zappa, some folks were a bit weirded out by him.

Anyway, despite the sound system not being the best, the band CRANKED and the audience responded. Enjoyable Time!

I caught him last week, it was a really good time. We were in for soundcheck, some of the band are new and are learning as they go but it was still pretty great.

Yes, there was a bit of a rehearsal aspect. Dweezil stopped in the middle of two tunes because he was displeased and then took it from the top. A standing ovation at the conclusion, both times.

Also, he had mentioned they found some tracks that were never released or played live. Some of that was incorporated toward the end. Another great reason to see well known folks at small venues when the opportunity presents itself.
