Rega RP3 Question
I have a Rega RP3 that I notice a very slight hum when the dust cover is closed. It starts to hum when I get to within 2 -3 inches of the cover being closed. It is some sort mechanical vibration of the motor being amplified through the cover. When the cover is up the turntable is dead silent. My listening room is very quiet and I am wondering if this hum I hear is normal for this turntable. At my listening position I cannot hear the hum, just when I am closer than 2 feet to unit. Thanks.

I think it might be from the motor noise being amplified when lid is closed. I know this may sound crazy, but do you have the upgraded white belt on the RP3?

I do have the white belt, but the hum still occurs with the black belt. When I remove the platter and take off the belt, the motor makes somewhat of a tic tic sound as it spins. However, when a belt is on and cover open, it is dead silent.
