Default Martin Logan Spire for HT?

I'm thinking about getting a pair of these for my two channel HT system (MX119/MC452/Oppo95), does anyone use them?

Yes, i'll use a sub.

Thanks

Long time panel / stat guy here, I've been using Spire's in my main listening rome for almost three years, IMO one of if not the best pair of transducers in the sub 10k field. I compliment mine with a Velodyne DD-15 sub. Lika all stats they need room to beath, min of 3-4' behind and to the sides. Set up can be time consuming but well worth it, sweet spot will be limited to two seats though.

While the Spire's are a Hybrid, stable wide bandwith amplification is a must (capacitive load)

I have used the Spire in the past. Its a great speaker and when set up correctly can through a huge soundstage with great trasparecy and clarity. Really one of the best. With that said I have found the Spire a bit bright in my room. From my experience it worked much better with tube amplification that solid state.
You cannot go wrong with the Spire.

Thanks guys.

I waited for my dealer to get a brand new pair in and they brought them over. We get them set up and one of them started to short out after about one minute causing some pretty strange things to happen.

They got boxed up and sent right back to the store. Martin Logan did respond very quickly to the dealer and wanted to get me another pair to try out but I don't think that will happen.

ML really has some of the best customer service in the business. I have a pair of Spires myself and a Stage center channel.

The Spires are great speakers, I just need to add better amplification to them to really get the most out of them. Right now I am using a cheapo Emotiva UPA-5 and can't upgrade since I spent all my play money on the Spires.

Absolutely the best... If you have a problem, don't haul to the service center. They diagnose most problems over the phone and encourage you to take things apart to diagnose and repair.

I am currently using 2 pairs of Electromotions and the Elctromotion C2 with a center channel sub and a home built transmission line sub for LFE. These are great for home theater, really fast and with a snap that's addictive. I bought the first pair of Electromotions as temporary speaker as my listening room flooded last summer. I am truly impressed with this speaker, but I am planning to buy a pair of Montis for the Front channels next year.
